The Database Marketing Manager is a key member of the NA Database Marketing community consisting of various analytic and data management competencies.  This position reports to the NA Database Marketing Director and is responsible for delivering actionable customer insights and recommendations based on quantitative methods and applications which will challenge the status quo.  The effective candidate will champion these methods and through their demonstrated successes cultivate, grow and enhance the relationships with the Market Segment Leader, Team and Stakeholders.  S/he will efficiently translate business issues confronting the team into relevant, quantitatively measurable and testable strategies resulting in actionable recommendations for the Marketing and Sales organizations.  The successful candidate is a strategic thinker with strong analytic and quantitative skills who feels equally at home performing statistical analysis, assisting in the ‘bring to market’ of campaign execution, and interacting with internal “clients”.

Responsibilities:

Leverage available data sources and range of tools to solve common marketing/business problems.  By “Listening to the Market Place”, the candidate will provide behavior insights to the Marketing Client.  This is most effectively accomplished by:

  • Providing well designed Marketing programs explicitly incorporating the Champion/Challenger test model founded on solid statistical methodology.  This includes, for instance, explicit hypothesis and significance testing with the incorporation of the appropriate test design and optimal sample size to minimize in-market test expenses.
  • Ensuring that the executions of all In-Market campaigns are undertaken in the most effective manner.  This means working with both internal and external sources of data and those responsible for production / implementation processes.
  • Verifying that all ‘responses’ are captured and identified in a manner appropriate for measurement and statistical analysis.
  • Perform appropriate quantitative analysis and the evaluation of campaign and program outcomes and effectiveness
  • Work with marketing group to integrate and imbed analytic insight into the lead generation processes to drive program and campaign optimization.  Identify barriers created by current business processes, systems, and data which prevent the application of data-driven approaches.  Develop possible recommendations to close gaps.

Skills:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, economics, or operations research.
  • 3 to 5+ years’ experience in the application of Database Marketing with special emphasis on solving marketing/business problems, preferably in a B2B environment
  • Demonstrated ability to translate analytic results into business implications
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills and ability to represent quantitative results in an easy to understand manner
  • Hands-on experience with analytic methods and statistical techniques including but not limited to hypothesis and significance testing, regression analysis, CHAID, clustering, factor analysis, LTV, ROI, and P&L analysis
  • Hands-on experience using statistical programming/data mining software such as SAS and SPSS or equivalent
  • Experience with external data appends and their application for targeted marketing
  • Local language capabilities preferred for regional roles and assignments (English required)
