Lead Information Architect

Job Description:

The Team:

You will be part of our Experience Design team.

The Role:

This is a management position and requires a sound understanding and interpretive working knowledge of critical human behavioral factors as they interact with current and future information technologies across the social media space.

You must be able to identify distinct shared interest and online community audiences, then effectively organize information and product / program features through information architecture best practices. We want you to be an advocate for users by delivering rich, usable online experiences while delivering upon the key business objectives of our clients and driving results for their business.

You’ll enjoy the stimulation of working with bright passionate, team members to build and support effective communication and gain immeasurably from working with our Senior Strategists and Information Architects in writing and implementing policies and procedures that optimize program delivery throughout our organization.

Responsibilities:

• Translate business rules, requirements and user research into functional and usability requirements. Merge various disciplines such as user interface (UI) design, human factors, user research, information science and web strategy.

• Specify how users will find information by defining its organization, navigation, labeling, and searching systems balancing end-user and client objectives.

• Build the information architecture and collaborate with stakeholders to create conceptual user interface designs through high fidelity prototypes.

• Create and maintain all information architecture deliverables, user scenarios, task flow diagrams, sitemap / navigation scheme / taxonomy, wireframes, interaction outline / specifications and copy direction.

• Analyze and organize data stored by information systems including entities, attributes and interrelationships (meta data).

• Collaborate with content management specialists to enhance and leverage the existing content management and technology infrastructure to increase efficiency and enhance the user experience. Determine what content and functionality sites will contain.

• Evaluate usability and accessibility for potential site users; measurement and assessment of website performance; track website usage and industry Internet trends.

• Develop user interface standards.

• Identify requirements and/or help sell in proposed solutions in conjunction with Client Services and/or Digital Strategy teams.

Your Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors/Human-Computer Interface Design, Library or Information Sciences or equivalent

Experience:

5 - 7 years of information architecture experience working on complex, transactional websites, preferably with a proficiency using VISIO, Axure or PhotoShop/Illustrator; and must have at least 1 year of team leadership and/or people management experience required.

• Must be fluent in the principles of Web usability (project administration, site analysis, user surveys, audience profiles, test planning, recruitment, test implementation, analysis, and reporting), information architecture, and graphical user-interface design principles to provide Web usability expertise to clients and team.

• Familiar with basic web technologies such as HTML, CSS, XML, XHTML, ASP, and PHP – and how these technologies are used to build web sites and applications.

• Familiar with Content Management Systems (CMS) and dynamic web applications.

• Familiarity with e-mail marketing and direct mail, preferably with experience managing usability as it relates to conversion and personalization of content for customer segments within the social media industry.
