Some Pretty Childish Ringtones Courtesy of AlmapBBDO and Casa do Zezinho
Keeping children from low-income families busy is a problem in most countries, but it seems to be an alarmingly pressing one in Brazil where the disparities between rich and poor can often be quite brutal.
To that effect, Sao Paulo’s AlmapBBDO has teamed up with Casa do Zezinho to come up with Ringotônicos; an effort to help provide those less fortunate kids with musical instruments.
AlmapBBDO and VW Bring the Test Drive Experience to your Screens
Last July, VW partnered with Cannes 2010 Agency of the Year AlmapBBDO to launch the Amarok, its first medium-sized pick up in Brazil. If you’re familiar with the agency, you’ll know that they’re not generally up for doing anything half-assed, so they decided to add a twist to the test drive experience.
By bringing the experience [...]
AlmapBBDO takes a pause for Twix
Is an idea truly clichéd if you don’t see the cliché until the very end?
I had to ask myself that after seeing this 60 second spot for Twix from Sao Paulo’s perennial award winners AlmapBBDO. When it was finished, I knew I had seen the basic idea a dozen times before — usually with home entertainment products and other things with a PAUSE button — but because I didn’t pick up on it until the end, it was a pleasant surprise.
Folding and farting Für Elise: Y&R Peru for League Against Cancer
Ask anybody here at the ihaveanidea office, I’m the fastest two-finger typist around. Okay, that’s not saying much when everybody else types much faster using both hands, but that’s what I get for having good penmanship during my should’ve-learned-to-type years.
Y&R Peru in Lima’s latest campaign for the League Against Cancer demonstrates some pretty cool things a pair of ladies can do — and more importantly cannot do — with their own hands.
Axe: One, Destiny: No Score
The folks at Ponce Buenos Aires know all about fortune. You see, sometimes the planets align just right, and Fate guides Cupid’s nimble hands to plant his arrows of love into the hearts of two young people who seem like they were put on this earth to be together.
The Burger King gets a Brazilian
Oh those wacky folks at Crispin Porter + Bogusky! Where will they take their creepy Burger King next? All the way to Brazil, perhaps? Well that’s exactly what they di— what?… You mean Crispin didn’t make these?… But, but the King and the Whopper and the strangeness and the… oh, I see. Never mind.
Saatchi’s kiss can never be broken
Of all the bonds in the world, none hold stronger than the ones of true love. When two people love each other deeply, nothing can tear that bond asunder, not friends, not foes, and certainly not bombs dropped from fighter jets.
The story continues: BBDO Chile is caught scamming for Sony
I’m not even sure what the ad means, but a BBDO Chile ad for Sony PS3 featuring a 21st century video gamer giving a blood transfusion to famous Nazi Field Marshal Edwin Rommel is out there, and like all things featuring Nazis not being bludgeoned to death by basterds, it’s offending people. And much like the DDB/WWF “Tsunami” ad that made the rounds on an international walk of shame a few weeks ago, its creation was not exactly on the up-and-up.
Ogilvy Argentina transforms a “Happy Kingdom” for Coke Zero
“Darkness and despair hung over the kingdom like a tattered shroud, blotting out hopes and dreams just as easily as it blotted out the sun… until the emperor brought himself to try a most curious elixir… Coke Zero.”
Castrol is the solution for engine baldness, says O&M Brazil
met⋅a⋅phor [met-uh-fawr, -fer]
–noun
something used, or regarded as being used, to represent something else; emblem; symbol.
Leave it up to the folks at Ogilvy & Mather Sao Paulo to equate an underperforming car engine with baldness.
