TBWA NY can get away with anything when it comes to Starburst
Remember what we said yesterday about TBWAChiatDay New York and their Skittle ads?
The same rule applies for their Starburst ads.
Enjoy.
TBWA NY blends the rainbow for Skittles
It’s been our longstanding policy here at ihaveanidea to never attempt to explain TBWAChiatDay New York’s Skittle ads.
That policy still stands.
TBWA NY puts out a fire for Jameson Whiskey
When you have a company that’s more than 200 years old, you’ve probably seen a few things in your history that could qualify as being “legendary”. And if not, you can always embellish on that history. Such is the case with TBWA\Chiat\Day New York’s epic spot for Jameson Whiskey, in which the distillery’s founder apparently drowns thousands of Dubliners in order to save his hooch from going up in a blaze of glory.
Y&R New York, Black Iris team up for MTV EXIT
MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) has partnered up with many different musicians— and advertising agencies — to create some compelling videos to call attention to the serious issue of human trafficking. We featured one by The Killers as while back, and now here we are with Y&R New York’s “Planet Better”, an exclusive track by the Black Iris music collective and Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino.
Nobody but W+K and Nike Free really throw it down
“This is a throwdown! A showdown! Hell no, I can’t slow down! It’s gonna go!”
Apologies to non-Canadian readers out there, but when I looked the the Inbox’s, well, inbox, and saw that the latest Nike spot from Wieden + Kennedy Portland was called “Throwdown”, I was kinda hoping the soundtrack was gonna be the zenith of all Canuck hip-hop, “Let Your Backbone Slide”. Alas, it was not to be.
Super Bowl XLV Part Two: The Good, the Bad and the Skechers
Not every spot in last night’s Super Bowl featured rap artists or wheels. The usual suspects were on the scene, with Coca-Cola dazzling, and Pepsi returning to the game only to let their consumers do the dazzling for them. Yes, there was another slew of consumer-generated content this year, with Pepsi and Doritos joining forces to have their fans get “creative”.
Super Bowl XLV Part One: All cars and rap stars
Well another Super Bowl has come and gone. Two legendary rivals from blue-collar towns duked it out, and in the end, the Green Bay Packers were victorious over the Pittsburgh Steelers. But hey, we are ad people, who cares about the game, right?
This year’s Super Bowl has been dubbed the Car Bowl; there were almost as many automotive related spots as there were Pittsburgh points on the board. We also saw rap stars in cars, animated rap stars, and halftime show rap stars who were giving barely animated performances.
W+K and Old Spice put a lot of power in the hands of a teenager
The other day we mentioned that Wieden + Kennedy Portland had brought back Isaiah Mustafa to announce a new Old Spice commercial on the horizon. Well that ad has now been released… into the hands of a single individual.
DraftFCB Toronto gets Canadians “Sweatered Up” for WWF
While North America finds itself in the grips of yet another blizzard (Snowpocalypse? Snowmageddon?), it would probably be extremely easy to convince people to throw on an extra layer of clothing to keep warm. But to combine this with turning down their thermostats? That might be a bit more of a challenge.
Guess who’s back? Okay, you don’t have to guess, it’s Old Spice guy
Hello ladies. It’s been a while since the world has paid a visit to Isaiah Mustafa’s bathroom. In the meantime we’ve had to tolerate the bizarreness of Ray Lewis’ ads. But fret not, Old Spice aficionados, for the great smelling people at Wieden + Kennedy Portland will be bringing back The Old Spice guy for a new series of spots. How are we aware of such news? Because they made an ad saying that they are making more ads.
