Guess who’s coming to Tết? TBWA\Vietnam
This Sunday is shaping up to be a holiday extravaganza, with Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year taking place on the same day. (If you’re single and not Asian, I guess you’re SOL.) In Vietnam they celebrate a very similar holiday to Chinese New Year on that day called Tết.
In Russia, SELLING awards gets you job opportunities
Meet Danilov Eugeniy, a Russian based copywriter who has the deal of the century for you!
Danilov, who recently won first prize in the Eurobest Young Creatives competition, is job hunting with a bit of a twist. You see, young, passionate creatives seem to be a dime a dozen these days. Passionate creatives with lots of talent are rarer, but it’s still a buyers’ market. But young, passionate creatives with talent who want to sell you a genuine Cannes Lions Grand Prix trophy to display like you actually earned it? Now that’s what you call a very sharp needle in a very big haystack.
Christmas comes late at ihaveanidea
Happy New Year! Yes,we’ve said goodbye to 2009 in a nice little year-end recap, and the 2010 engines are starting to run again here at the ihaveanidea towers in Montreal. Slowly but surely we’re all returning from our Christmas/New Year’s destinations. I just got back from family and friends in Toronto, Nat is on is way back from Thunder Bay, Steph and Ignacio returned from sunny climes (Mexico and Panama respectively) and Rafik, who doesn’t believe in silly things like Christmas, came from twelve subway stops away.
All in together now: zig’s Jingle Jam
I don’t know what it is, but we at ihaveanidea didn’t receive as many of those ever popular agency “Christmas cards” this year. Maybe everybody’s too busy to make any really good self-promos this year, or maybe nobody loves us. Whatever the case, we did receive one in the Inbox from Toronto/Chicago agency zig this afternoon that we thought was worth sharing.
Collective London: “He’s taking your tweets, checking them twice…”
Have you been a good Twitterer this year?
Santa doesn’t need to see you when your sleeping or know when you’re awake anymore. The fine folk at London digital shop Collective have set up their site to do Kris Kringle’s dirty work, by scanning your Twitter account for acts of niceties or naughtiness. If you type happy thoughts or if you swear too fucking much, the Collective Santa will know.
Help Droga5’s Baldrick somehow save Christmas
Christmas is just around the corner, but before we reach that corner we’ll all be assaulted by tons of Christmas cards/videos/other crazy shit from ad agencies showing off how clever they can be when they are both the client and part of the intended audience.
First up to bat in this holiday extravaganza: Droga5 Sydney, who has thrown the task of developing the company Christmas stunt on the lap of ‘Baldrick’, a junior at the shop.
Fact meets fiction as McCann welcomes Sterling Cooper
Okay, okay, if you haven’t seen the Season 3 finale of Mad Men from nearly two weeks ago, you might wanna skip this spoiler-filled spot. This includes ihaveanidea’s Nat and Stephanie, who won’t let us talk about the show in the office because they’re only on Seasons 1 and 2 respectively. Come on guys, really?
Not to burst your bubble, but ANYBODY can go viral
Hey advertisers! Have you always wanted one of those slick viral ads that all the kids are talking about for your brand, but don’t have the budget for your agency to make it? Maybe you don’t know what you want, but it just has to be something, you know, viral.
SHOCKING UPROAR!!! ADRENALINA wants prospective clients to cheat!
A scandal ripped across the New York ad scene late last week, as MDC Partners-backed agency ADRENALINA openly encouraged prospective clients to “cheat” on their current agencies and join them at their LaFayette Street digs.
Police shut down David&Goliath photo shoot
About a year ago, when I ventured to Los Angeles and did one of ihaveanidea’s famous agency profiles on David&Goliath, they told me that the major advantage to being located in El Segundo — as opposed to downtown LA or somewhere trendier — was their close proximity to the airport.
