Apt, Mobiento let you test drive a VW from a print ad
When your local car dealer wants you to come in for a test drive, he usually puts a big-ass inflatable gorilla on his roof and serves hot dogs. When Volkswagen of Norway want you to test drive a new VW, they bring the experience right to the magazine you’re reading.
In a project created by Oslo’s Apt and developed by Mobiento, readers who come across a special gatefolded print ad are invited to download a special app that uses augmented reality to experience some of the car’s features.
Now YOU can give it a ponder with Y&R NY, LG
Remember when The Inbox revealed that Ignacio Oreamuno — ihaveanidea’s esteemed founder and president —sported a fake beard? Well the boss has been kind enough to lend us his facial hair for the day.
AT&T launches iPhone app to pinpoint where they aren’t
AT&T has been taking a beating in commercial-world lately, with Verizon attacking AT&T’s allegedly problematic signal coverage, and AT&T having a hell of a problem convincing the public otherwise. How good can the network that has the vaunted iPhone be if said network doesn’t work half the time? AT&T tried to fight the attacks in court and on TV, to no avail. AT&T = crappy coverage.
Digitas makes Tide to Go even more “to go” with iPhone app
If you’ve been following the Twitter feeds of the ihaveanidea team, you’ll know that I’ve been getting all domestic and baking cookies from scratch at the office. And not just any cookies, but rich, butter laden, gooey chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin bad boys that are sure to drip chocolate and melted goodness onto your clothes.
AKQA, VW launch the 2010 GTI via iPhone
No 30 second spots showing cars cruising down scenic highways or downtown streets with neon lights reflected across the hood. In fact no TV spot at all. Volkswagen and AKQA San Francisco have united to launch the new 2010 VW GTI entirely as an iPhone application — apparently the first time ever that a car has done so.
Droga5, Puma will have you wanting the stock market to crash
It’s been about a year since the global economy went from a simple freefall to strapping on a rocket-pack for a jet fuelled race to the bottom. And while things are still in rough shape, unfortunately it appears that a comeback is on the horizon.
Yes, unfortunately.
McCann Erickson gives MasterCard some “Priceless Picks”
Earlier this week we showed you a new Google feature called “Favorite Places” which lets users find restaurants, shops, galleries and landmarks as recommended by famous celebrities.
Now the folks over at McCann Erickson in New York have developed an iPhone app for MasterCard called “Priceless Picks.” It’s similar to Google’s “Favorite Places”, except this one is generated by everyday people, not by folks like Tony Hawk and Moby.
Google Maps wants to show you its Favorite Places
The other day, somebody sent me a map and directions for a place via MapQuest, and I thought to myself “what is this, 2001?” Maybe I’ve grown accustomed to the cool little things Google Maps has, but that has always been my “go-to” place for maps. And now Google Maps just got a little bit cooler for people who live or visit the Big Apple and other world-class locales.
