Mother London shows Stella Artois a little respect

Mother London shows Stella Artois a little respect thumbnail

Ah, the chivalrous act of laying down one’s coat so that a damsel may cross a puddle. I must’ve seen this in a hundred cartoons and other shows as a kid, and even at that young age it used to bother me to no end. Why on earth would anybody do that!? You’d wreck the coat, and the woman’s weight would likely push it to the bottom of the puddle, spilling the murky water over the top and onto her foot anyway! Yeah, I guess I just wasn’t an insufferable romantic in my early years.

I can feel that same ball of exasperation forming inside me when I view the latest spot by the gang at Mother London for Stella Artois. Yes, it’s beautifully shot by acclaimed director Patrick Daughters, and there’s a nice fourth-wall-breaking moment from the female character, but the eight-year-old inside me wants to scream “walk around the puddle, lady!!!”
