W+K and Old Spice put a lot of power in the hands of a teenager
UPDATE: Try as he might, Chris couldn’t hold out for long. Don’t worry kid, neither could I at that age. VIDEO BELOW.
______________
The other day we mentioned that Wieden + Kennedy Portland had brought back Isaiah Mustafa to announce a new Old Spice commercial on the horizon. Well that ad has now been released… into the hands of a single individual.
Enter Chris Gatewood, some kid from somewhere who kinda looks like my nephew and thus falls in the demographic who slathers on body sprays and washes like calamine lotion after poison ivy. He has been chosen as the Old Spice superfan, and has been entrusted to share the latest spot with the world before it goes to air on Monday.
Or not.
Apparently Chris is allowed to share it through whatever channels he wants, or hold it close to his heart so that nobody enjoys its greatness until after the Super Bowl. So far he hasn’t released the spot, but he did send a link via Twitter to a still from the ad.
Will Chris show the rest? Follow him on Twitter and YouTube to find out.
___________
He did it.
