DraftFCB Toronto gets Canadians “Sweatered Up” for WWF
While North America finds itself in the grips of yet another blizzard (Snowpocalypse? Snowmageddon?), it would probably be extremely easy to convince people to throw on an extra layer of clothing to keep warm. But to combine this with turning down their thermostats? That might be a bit more of a challenge.
But that’s a challenge that the people at DraftFCB‘s Toronto office are up for, as they have launched “Get Sweatered”, part of an initiative by WWF Canada for National Sweater Day on February 17th. On that day, Canadians are encouraged to bundle up in their finest argyle and turn the thermostat down by 3°C (about 5.4°F for our American friends). According to the WWF, this might make for a slightly chillier living room, but will save the energy equivalent of taking 350,000 cars off of the road.
“Get Sweatered” is a Facebook app that’ll deck out your profile pic in digital sweater. Not only will you see how you look in hideous argyle patterns, but the more people who participate, the better it is for WWF’s funding.
So save one of the four sweaters you’re currently wearing for the Snowlocaust for the 17th. The way the weather reports are looking, you’ll probably need it then.
