GJP is closing, and EVERYTHING MUST GO!!!!
Fuck a whimper, GJP is going out with a bang.
After two decades of churning out some of Canada’s most memorable work, Toronto ad agency Gee Jeffery + Partners is apparently shuttering its doors. But instead of just issuing a quiet, sombre press release, the ad shop is going balls to the wall, selling everything to the bare walls, and then some. All proceeds go to a good cause, so if you’ve been hankering to buy yourself a Gold Lion, now’s your chance.
Full disclosure: GJP was the first agency to employ me full time. I went from a lowly intern to a paid copywriter with benefits at a fun and friendly shop. I’d like to think it was because of my immense creative talents, but I have a feeling it was only because Alan Gee was enthralled by all of my James Bond toys.
Even fuller disclosure: I’m sure there’s much more to this ‘closing down’ story, but GJP isn’t talking, so we’ll find out next week.
