Grip Ltd. helps Budweiser show its World Cup colours
I gotta admit it, ladies and gentlemen, my interest in the World Cup is mild at best. I don’t follow soccer/football at any other time of year, and when it comes to national pride, the sport’s got nothing going for me. Yeah, I had a little excitement when the Reggae Boyz were in it back in ’98 (my dad is Jamaican) but my home and native land hasn’t been there since ’86, where they lost every game without so much as a goal.
Ogilvy HK: Shangri-La hotels are amazing. Getting to one though…
Whoever coined the phrase “getting there is half the fun” was probably not going anywhere that exciting. I, for one, am not a big fan of “the journey”. I get about an hour into it before I’m wishing I’m already there. Throw in the fact that that I can’t sleep on planes or trains, and I’m one cranky traveller.
Fortunately my travels haven’t been nearly as harrowing as the poor chap in this epic, three-minute spot by Ogilvy & Mather Hong Kong for Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
DDB Mudra has a healthy appetite for VW Beetle’s curves
Despite the best efforts of those who try to get young women happy with their bodies, it’s a world where size zeros still grace the runways and magazine models are Photoshopped beyond reality. Luckily, DDB Mudra in Mumbai is announcing that with the Volkswagen’s New Beetle, curves are definitely in this year.
TBWA\Paris melts away the death penalty for Amnesty International
For those that don’t know, ihaveanidea is based in Canada, a country that hasn’t had the death penalty since 1976, and even before that hadn’t actually used it since 1962. While you get the occasional debate about whether to reinstate it, especially after a particularly heinous crime, generally Canadians don’t give it much thought.
Red Urban takes VW Golf out for a Sunday drive
The Toronto offices of Red Urban have launched their first campaign for Volkswagen, an account the agency won a full two months before the shop even officially opened its doors.
With the line “Anyone for a Sunday drive?”, Red Urban seems to be bringing back idea of driving aimlessly for pleasure, fuel be damned. Then again, the VW Golf isn’t exactly a gas guzzler, so it’s probably not too bad to leave itty bitty carbon footprints in search of fun.
180 Amsterdam has adidas on a World Cup “quest”
The 2010 World Cup begins tomorrow (Rafik from ihaveanidea probably has a countdown going on down to the very last second) We’reguartanteed to see some amazing team matchups over the course of the whole tournament, but 180 Amsterdam has everyone geared up to see some phenomenal one-on-one matchups, as their long term “what every team needs” campaign for adidas Football culminates in… The Quest.
Where Are They Working Wednesdays
Click 3X, the New York based full service studio “positioned at the intersection of entertainment, advertising, and technology”, (ooh, that’s surprisingly zingy for a press release) has announced the signing of three talented staffers to bolster its already impressive roster of post-production talent. The renowned Steve Holiner headlines the group, and will join the studio [...]
Kobe Bryant “kloses” things down with Vitaminwater
The Los Angeles Lakers are up two games to one on their historic rivals the Boston Celtics in the 2010 NBA Finals. This is thanks in no small part to Kobe Bryant’s ability to shut things down if need be, or as this ad for Vitaminwater quickly whipped up by LA based agency Zambezi calls [...]
WWD&S brings back the Wrath of Cannes for a fourth year… God help us all
They’re baaaaaaaack.
Last year, one of the very first stories in the then-all-new ihaveanidea Inbox was the announcement of the Wrath of Cannes III. Well New York agency Woods Witt Dealy & Sons is back at it again this year with the fourth Wrath of Cannes, the “other” ad festival, on Wednesday, June 23rd at Kabin in the East Village.
