Crispin, Coke Zero are blinding you with science
Sometimes I wonder if Crispin Porter + Bogusky is implementing some Orwellian Big Brother tactics for their ads for Coke Zero. You know, say it enough times and you can convince the world that 2+2=5. As a cola addict connoisseur, I know that Coke Zero tastes nothing like Coca-Cola. Hell, I’d say that Pepsi tastes more like Coke than Coke Zero does. But the campaign marches on…
Logorama shooting for an Oscar this weekend
This weekend marks the 82nd edition of the Academy Awards, where Hollywood apparently celebrates the very best in motion picture creativity and craft. And whether or not the avatar of a serious man with a District 9 education is precious enough to blindside and hurt the locker of some inglourious basterds is still up, up in the air (take that, Billy Crystal opening number!) …
Lightning strikes twice (well, seven times actually) for Lowe Bull, Tetra Pak
Roy Sullivan, once a forest ranger at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as being struck by lightning a record seven times. Lowe Bull’s Johannesburg office uses this man’s miserable luck to illustrate a point about the comparative envirnonmental soundness of buying drinks that come in Tetra Pak packaging.
Ogilvy NY: dire consequences for disrespecting Capri-Sun
I remember when I was a kid and I used to see Capri-Sun ads during Saturday morning cartoons. You see, we didn’t have Capri-Sun in Canada, but we did have kids shows beamed in from New York State. And I remember being absolutely blown away by the concept of juice in a bag. Oh how I wanted this mystical, magical drink!
BBDO Toronto celebrates Paralympic pride and passion
The 2010 Winter Olympics are finished, and while all the TV cameras are gone, along with most of the glitz and glamor, a new set of athletic challenges is about to take place in Vancouver. The 2010 Winter Paralympics is set to happen, with athletes from 33 different nations ready to give it their all.
Step into Extreme Group’s seedy underworld of ‘Black Sunshine’ trafficking
I’ve never been a big coffee drinker. I don’t think I’ve brewed a pot at home once so far this year, and between Starbuck’s, Tim Horton’s and the office coffeemaker, I think I’ve had fewer than a dozen cups of java in 2010. The rest of the ihaveanidea team, well they’re a different story. Rafik loves his brew, and the only thing that keeps Ignacio from accidentally burning the office down by leaving the espresso machine on is him going back to the machine for another espresso.
Award Show Bedlam! ANDYs, Cannes Lions, Clios, Tomorrow Awards
The ANDY Awards wrapped up their all-star judging down in N’awlins last week (hey ANDYs, where’s the judges diaries love this year?), and have released their 2010 shortlist. Lots of fantastic work to be found on it, which you can see for yourself right here. The final winners will be notified this Friday, March 5th, and if they can keep the victors from bragging to their friends about their wins, the list will be made public on April 7th at The ANDY Awards Show & Party at The Times Center in New York City.
zig gets Molson fans to suit up for Olympic (and Facebook) gold
Well the Winter Olympics are over, and here in the Great White North, we’re still beaming about our highest ever medal haul, as well as our Olympic record setting number of shiny gold trinkets.
It looks like Molson Canadian is also beaming after the response its Facebook campaign received during the Games. The folks over at zig in Toronto have sent us over a nice little case study video for their highly successful Gear Up For The Gold Facebook app.
Y&R New York, Virgin conquer your fears of not flying upper class
Poor, poor, well-to-do people. Us plebeians who travel in coach have no idea what it’s like behind the curtain in front of the airplane. You think it’s all champagne and beluga on Ritz crackers, but some people in business class might actually have to sit near each other! And they might not get massages!
