SHOCKING NEWS: Crispin’s Burger King is crazy
Things are crazy in Crispin Porter + Bogusky Land these days. First you have Andrew Keller, Rob Reilly and Jeff Benjamin being promoted from Executive Supreme Creative Directors to Chief Creative Grand Poobahs. Not to be outdone, ihaveanidea Portfolio Night favorite Ari Merkin is headed back to Crispin’s Miami digs, where he helped put the agency on the map with stellar work for MINI, Truth and of course Cannes Grand Prix winning “Lamp” for IKEA.
Droga5, Tap Project depict a future of fun
2010 marks the fourth year of Tap Project, the charity that raises funds for UNICEF primarily by having restaurant patrons donate money for the complimentary water they receive.
In the latest spot for the cause, New York favorites and Tap Project creators Droga5 envision a world where clean water is so plentiful that even children in impoverished nations such as earthquake ravaged Haiti can take it for granted and just have good clean fun.
David&Goliath unleashes King Kong on Universal Studios
Beauty may have killed the beast, but the beast killed every car in the parking lot. Well not in the classic version of King Kong, but in this spot by LA’s David&Goliath for Universal Studios Hollywood and its upcoming attraction based on the Peter Jackson version of the flick.
TBWA\Brussels pulls the wool over our eyes (and everything else) for Aardgas
Winter is definitely over in ihaveanidea-land. The snow is melting away, the birds are chirping, the crocuses are starting to poke through the soil. But then it’s not like Montreal had that bad of a winter anyway. In fact, I didn’t even turn the heat on once in my apartment this season.
But if I did turn on the heat, it would be really cool if my whole apartment turned into a giant tea cozy, as shown in this sweet stop-motion TV spot for Aardgas Natural Gas by TBWABrussels.
72andSunny does AMAZING with HP consumers and employees
Showing real-world applications of technology is pretty par for the course when it comes to computer company ads, but what sets the best from the rest is how entertaining and engaging those ads are. Case in point, the gang over at LA agency 72andSunny’s new campaign for Hewlett-Packard.
Mother London gets your ganache all Gü-ey
I think it’s safe to assume that everybody here at ihaveanidea enjoys chocolate. Whether you partake of it on occasion like Nat, or whether it’s one of the four basic food groups (that would be me), good chocolate is the food of the gods.
But none of us here have ever tried Gü Chocolate Puds, a UK based purveyor of exceedingly rich ganaches and other desserts. If this spot by Mother London is to be believed, Gü might actually be made of hallucinogens that specifically target the ids of desperate housewives.
Rethink takes Toronto, opening up a shop in April
If 2009 was the year of the downturn, 2010 looks like the year of the turnaround, at least in the Toronto advertising community. With Red Urban and David&Goliath both set to open shop shortly, and doug agency becoming doug + serge with a mandate for expansion, there seems to be a lot happening in ihaveanidea’s old hometown. And now you can add Vancouver award show darlings Rethink into the T-Dot mix.
I’m a Don Draper girl, in a Don Draper world…
Everybody’s favorite period piece TV show about advertising won’t be back until summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get your Mad Men on in a very unique way. Ditch the remote-control pink Corvette and send Skipper off to do some babysitting, because Don Draper and friends have gone Barbie!
RCKR/Y&R, BBC have seen the future, and the future is hologram ladies
Think of all the movies where creatures from another galaxy descend on our planet to show us mere humans a better way of life, to steer us clear of the instincts that would otherwise bring about our downfall. The Day The Earth Stood Still. The Abyss. Earth Girls Are Easy.
London’s RCKR/Y&R presents us with another seemingly [...]
BBDO & Frito-Lay chips: you can’t have just one (bag)
In fairly recent times in the US, there has been lots of talk about the government regulating junk food. From putting nutritional info on fast food menus to taxing high sugar snacks, Uncle Sam seems to have an interest in keeping you healthy or (more likely) taxing your fat.
Up here in Canada, on the other hand, it looks like that isn’t a concern, at least in these Frito-Lay ads by BBDO Toronto. Forget “in moderation”, why be satisfied with a single bag of chips when you can have a whole drawer full of them?
