Award Show Bedlam! Tomorrow Awards, One Club Creative Hall of Fame
For anybody who has ever wondered when award shows would do away with categories and judge ads based on the way consumers actually view them, for anybody who has ever thought they could do a good job at judging work but never knew when they’d get the opportunity, for anybody who has asked when award shows are really gonna give back to the next generation of creatives, well we at ihaveanidea can tell you exactly when all this will happen.
Tomorrow.
Well actually today. Right now.
Introducing the Tomorrow Awards, a new global advertising award show that celebrates those who create truly game changing work, redefining media possibilities and raising the bar for the future of the industry.
Cool stuff to note about the Tomorrow Awards:
- No categories. This means work that truly defies traditional award show categories don’t have to shoehorn themselves into “interactive” to be recognized. It also allows for the cream to rise to the top of the industry, not just the top of their medium.
- Public judging. The Tomorrow Awards shortlist will be created by you, the public. You’ll get to see every single entry in all its splendor, then decide which ones will advance to the final round of judging. Get your press pic and bio ready, and register to be a judge here.
After the public whittles down the entries, the shortlist moves onto the renowned “Monster Judges”. The list of Monster Judges to date:
- Rei Inamoto: Monster Judge Chairman, Global Creative Director, AKQA
- Mark Chalmers: Partner & Creative Director, Perfect Fools, The Netherlands
- Colleen DeCourcy: Chief Digital Officer, TBWA Worldwide, USA
- Naoki Ito: Executive Creative Director, Wieden + Kennedy Tokyo, Japan
- Sergio Mugnaini: Interactive Creative Director, Almap BBDO, Brazil
- Robert Wong, Executive Creative Director, Google Creative Lab, USA
- The Tomorrow Awards Scholarship. What would an award show that celebrates the future be without giving back to the people who will shape the future? 10% of all entry fees will be devoted to a scholarship fund which will be divided amongst schools that the Tomorrow Wards feels is doing a phenomenal job to prepare its students for the brave new ad world. In this inaugural year, the selected schools are Hyper Island in Sweden and VCU Brandcenter in the US.
The Tomorrow Awards is a quarterly awarded show, and call for entries for the Spring session is on now! For more information, visit the Tomorrow Awards website.

Next Thursday, March 4th, the One Club will be hosting the 2010 Creative Hall of Fame Ceremony at the Metropolitan Club in New York City. This year, they will be honoring two very worthy people.
The honorees: Mike Hughes, legendary president and creative director of The Martin Agency in Richmond, VA, and Saul Bass, graphic designer and filmmaker extraordinaire, famous for creating stunning title sequences for such films as Vertigo, Pyscho, North by Northwest and West Side Story. Alas, this is a posthumous award, as Mr. Bass passed away in 1996, but speaking on his behalf will be Bob Greenberg, founder of R/GA and friend and frequent collaborator of Bass.
