PSFK’s good ideas; a creative rogues gallery; Burn Back burns again
Happy post-Valentine’s Day/Presidents Day/Chinese New Year/Family Day to everybody out there! Here are a few things that came in during this holiday weekend.
Happy surprises at the ihaveanidea Towers today when we received our spanking new copy of Good Ideas in 2010. If you’re unfamiliar with this tome, it’s the latest annual by the crew at PSFK. It’s a bound compilation of the absolute coolest, most engaging creations they featured on their site in the past year — and that’s saying something, since they usually feature at least two or three cool things every day.
PSFK claims that this book isn’t a trend report, but I can see a lot of the ideas in here doing more than getting people to oooh and ahhh, and instead inspiring them to come up with their own cool stuff in the same spirit. You can grab your own slice of inspiration from the above link.

It’s often said that every copywriter has a half finished screenplay or novel on their hard drives, and every art director is just biding his or her time until they can become a film director or photographer. I’m not sure how true that is, but it certainly makes sense that creative people need some kind of outlet for their talent beyond ads for cars and breakfast cereal.
Enter Steffan Postaer, Chief Creative Officer of Euro RSCG Chicago, novelist, and brains behind the popular Gods of Advertising blog. With all of his side projects, Steffan has had no problems putting his non-advertising self out there, but a few months ago, he began creating a venue for other advertising creatives to share their creativity. The result: The Rogue’s Gallery, a blog where creatives can showcase their goods when they’re not working on packaged goods. I noticed this when it was just starting up, but Steffan says it’s really starting to gain traction, with short stories, poems, essays, paintings, photography and other submissions coming in from all over the ad world. If you’re looking to see what your fellow ad people are up to when they aren’t making ads but still making something, or if you’re thinking about adding your own touch to the blog, give it a go.
