AT&T launches iPhone app to pinpoint where they aren’t
AT&T has been taking a beating in commercial-world lately, with Verizon attacking AT&T’s allegedly problematic signal coverage, and AT&T having a hell of a problem convincing the public otherwise. How good can the network that has the vaunted iPhone be if said network doesn’t work half the time? AT&T tried to fight the attacks in court and on TV, to no avail. AT&T = crappy coverage.
Well AT&T is now changing directions in its approach, and it’s using the iPhone itself and its legion of customers to do it. Introducing “Mark the Spot“, an iPhone app officially launched by AT&T themselves. They’re basically admitting that their coverage isn’t perfect, but with this app, customers can let AT&T know exactly where they are via GPS when they are in a bad service area. Then AT&T can quickly see which areas get the most complaints and go in to remedy the situation.
Seems like a pretty good way to make your customers feel that you’re doing something about the problem and that they themselves can help. Sure beats running another boring comparison ad.
Oh wait, they still do that.
