BMB takes McCain to the Good factory
When I visited the UK last year, I was quite surprised to find something there. No, not they drive on the opposite side of the road, or that they call elevators “lifts” or that going down a staircase marked “Subway” is not going to lead you to the subway system. I was surprised to see the Canadian food company McCain has a very large presence in jolly olde England, and that the ads they run there are a million times better than the ones they run in their Canuck home turf.
Exhibit A: this 60 second spot by London’s Beattie McGuiness Bungay for their Smiles and Wedges potato products. It’s not bringing home the Grand Prix, but it tells a charming story about the goodness of their foods, and the beautiful production drives it home.
Compare that with the schlock we get here in the Great White North. Although if anybody can find me the classic Canuck spot where Roberto Alomar says “Dah wah wih Mcay Pawnch”, you’ll restore my faith in Canadian McCain ads.
