Kids are pretty stupid, so says Colenso BBDO, CalciYums

Yesterday afternoon in North America, millions of people gathered around their TV sets, computers and mobile devices to watch a most bizarre story unfold; a six year old boy had apparently unleashed his dad’s experimental helium balloon aircraft, and was now soaring 10,000 feet above the Colorado hills. After a huge media blitz and rescue effort, it turns out the kid wasn’t in the balloon at all, but hiding in the attic.

Maybe it’s because I don’t have any children myself and can’t relate to the sheer terror a parent might be feeling if this crazy balloon ride had actually taken place, but all I could think during the whole ordeal was “what a @#%$ing stupid kid.”

Which leads us into this fantastic animated spot by Auckland’s Colenso BBDO for CalciYums, a tasty dairy product for children who might not be too fond of drinking plain milk. The message? Pretty close to what I was thinking about balloon boy… as much as we’d like to think otherwise, kids aren’t that smart.
