A Post-Holiday Inbox Cleaning
What do you get when you take a three day weekend only honoured in Canada and mix it with the reality that the ad world stands still for no one? You get nailed with a whole pile of ad stuff to get caught up on!
———————–
First up to bat, those ads for Powermat by New York’s Woods Witt Dealy & Sons that have been making the rounds in all their expletive bleeping glory. Now don’t get wrong, these ads aren’t exactly shoe-ins at next year’s Clios or something, but the product — a mat that charges your phone, iPod, Blackberry etc. wirelessly — is cool enough to honestly elicit words that should normally be censored on TV.

Another entry in the “not winning at Cannes, but noteworthy nonetheless” category is the in-house campaign by Roll International for their Wonderful Pistachios. Based in LA, Roll is the world’s largest producer of pistachios and almonds, bur apparently they needed a few more nuts, so they gathered up a few unorthodox celebrity endorsements: Levi Johnston (you know, the guy who knocked up Sarah Palin’s eldest daughter) Caitlin Upton (dumb as a brick former Miss Teen South Carolina) Wee-Man (the vertically challenged Jackass costar) Vincent Pastore (Big Pussy on The Sopranos) The Denny Quints (famous, well I guess for being quintuplets) Dara Torres (US Olympic swimmer) Christopher Knight and Adrienne Curry (Peter from The Brady Bunch and his America’s Next Top Model wife) and an unnamed dominatrix (I’m sure some nut loving sub out there knows who she is)

And finally, a big congratulations to Ronnie Lebow, looooooooonnnnnnnnngtime ihaveanidea supporter and freelance art director/designer, whose Bald Media company — yes, a company that sells ad space on the hairless heads of men — has reached its one year anniversary.
If he needs new models, perhaps he can take Rafik off our hands, as ihaveanidea’s Operations, AKOS guy has inexplicably taken the clippers to his dome the other day.

And now we’re all up to speed! Happy post-Canadian Thanksgiving and US Columbus Day everyone!
