Where Are They Working Wednesdays
Our Los Angeles friends (and past Portfolio Night hosts) at David&Goliath have made a big hire, tapping Neilan Tyree as Chief Marketing Officer, Head of New Business. Says D&G head honcho David Angelo in a voice that sounds like he may have written this down beforehand: ”Neilan brings an incredible wealth of new biz and marketing knowledge to the table,” said Angelo. “To truly live up to our mission-to be the most desirable agency brand in the world-we need a CMO who can help nurture our brand to appeal to like-minded Brave partners. We look forward to tapping into Neilan’s 25+ years of experience as we continue to build the D&G brand and take on Goliath business challenges.”

Tyree’s résumé is pretty beefy. Prior to joining D&G, Tyree was a consultant for a number of agencies including former longtime agency home JWT. He also partnered with a number of entrepreneurs in 2009 including Mark Duval of The Duval Partnership, Richard Schwartz of The Launch Crew and Ron Cicero of OpenPitch.com. Before recent consulting efforts, Tyree worked as Director of New Business at kirshenbaum bond + partners in New York.He also spent time at Euro RSCG MVBMS Partners as Executive Director, Integrated Business Development where he aided in the global pitch and eventual win of the Lantus account and the creation of Euro RSCG Life MetaMax as its stand-alone agency. Tyree has applied his trade at countless other illustrious shops including TBWA/Chiat/Day, Merkley Newman Harty, SS+K and McKinney & Silver. Tyree was Adweek’s “Man About Town” columnist for many years and has been instrumental in supporting numerous Account Planning conferences and other initiatives. His chief pro bono work revolves around transition assistance for wounded veterans via The Vet Foundation.

In a much shorter press release, our other Los Angeles friends (and past Portfolio Night hosts) 180 LA has welcomed Ari Weiss as creative director. Weiss started out as an intern at up the coast at Goodby Silverstein & Partners before moving on to stints at Cliff Freeman & Partners, Saatchi & Saatchi, BBDO New York and Wieden + Kennedy. He returned to Goodby, where he was a group creative director and helped to create the much honored “There Can Only Be One” campaign for the NBA. We’re sure that’ll come in handy on those adidas basketball campaigns
