Cole & Weber pull together some Olympic spirit
When most people think of the Olympics, they think of a global athletic event that takes place once every four years (or every two years if you’re from a country that follows winter sports). The Games bring about a positive feeling of unity through sport, and the International Olympic Committee would like that spirit to thrive ever day of every year, not just around the Games themselves.
Screw audiobooks, now we have videomagazines
Traditional magazines have been taking a nosedive in readership in the past few years, with more and more people turning to the internet for all their magazine-y needs. But we’re about to see if adding technology to the printed page will bring back readers who left for more technological pastures to begin with.
Advanced Beer Ad Self-Awareness by Y&R Argentina
I’m sure we’ve all seen spots in which the characters are fully aware that they are in a TV commercial. And I’m sure we’ve all seen beer ads that deliberately employ heavily clichéd elements in a tongue in cheek manner. Here’s an ad for Quilmes beer by Young & Rubicam Argentina in Buenos Aires — by way [...]
Art & Copy opens in select US cities this Friday
If you see one movie this weekend, go see Inglourious Basterds. Apparently it’s all kinds of awesomeness.
But if New York, Chicago, Denver or Seattle are your stomping grounds, you’ll definitely wanna consider the One Club-backed documentary Art & Copy, a film directed by Doug Pray.
Publicis & Hal Riney, Anonymous, The Mill go rabbit hunting
Ever see Watership Down, that animated (but not really for kids) 70s movie about a group of rabbits searching for a home? There’s a hauntingly beautiful scene in the film featuring ghostly images of rabbits running through fields and meadows, all to the Art Garfunkel tune Bright Eyes.
Fitzgerald vs. Polamalu! Tyson vs. Ali! Feel the Heat!
It’s EA Sports Day here at ihaveanidea, as we’ve received two different ads in our mailbox featuring the video game giant with a penchant for kick-ass sports titles.
DDB channels Michael Bolton for Knorr Sidekicks
Just as ads featuring Gary Coleman get moved to the front of the line here at ihaveanidea, ads with Michael Bolton soundtracks tend to get the cold shoulder… but in this funny case, we’ll make an exception.
The Escape Pod takes pennies (straight to OfficeMax, that is)
And now for something completely ridiculous.
Last year, Chicago based agency The Escape Pod created a campaign for OfficeMax where an improv actor roamed the streets of New York, looking to buy things with nothing but pennies. The concept was that while some people won’t accept pennies as payment, OfficeMax will during its daily sales where certain items cost only one cent each.
VW up for review; Crispin says “No thanks”
It’s always big news when Crispin Porter + Bogusky hooks up or parts ways with a new account. Hell, it’s big news when Alex has a sandwich for lunch. So when Volkswagen announced this afternoon that they were putting their CP+B handled account up for review and that Crispin declined the invitation to pitch, it was blasted all over the industry pubs and blogs.
Trend Hunter’s Exploiting Chaos: Due in stores Sept. 1st
A lot of ihaveanidea’s readers are familiar with the online magazine Trend Hunter, and caught the interview they did with Ignacio several weeks ago. If you didn’t catch it, you can check it out right here. Personally I don’t know where they got the idea that Ignacio was trendy (have you heard his iTunes playlist?) but but a site that gets frequently referenced on CNN, BBC, The Economist and MTV must know what they’re talking about.
