TalkTalk uses pickpockets as “put-pockets”

We’ve often heard different companies claim that their products or services leave you with more money in your wallet, but this is the most literal interpretation I’ve ever seen.

UK based broadband and cellular provider TalkTalk has hired a team of former professional pickpockets to work the streets of London. The twist: instead of boosting your wallet, they are clandestinely slipping £5, £10 and £20 notes into the pockets and purses of passersby, each with a branded card about how TalkTalk saves you money.

The stunt, while legal, isn’t sitting well with the London police. They say the put-pockets could lead to some pretty nasty confrontations, which in turn could prove a distraction for real pickpockets. TalkTalk says each put-pocket has a number of plain clothes accomplices to break up any fights with people who don’t like free money.
