Fitzgerald vs. Polamalu! Tyson vs. Ali! Feel the Heat!
It’s EA Sports Day here at ihaveanidea, as we’ve received two different ads in our mailbox featuring the video game giant with a penchant for kick-ass sports titles.
First up: Madden NFL ’10, the latest installment of the legendary (American) football game. The spot, created by San Fran agency Heat and directed by Jake Scott of NSA Films, features a showdown between last season’s Super Bowl finalists Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals. What starts as a clash between Cardinals’ WR Larry Fitzgerald and Steelers’ safety Troy Polamalu quickly escalates into something much, much bigger… thanks to some sweet post production effects help from The Mill.
Switching from football to boxing, Fight Night 4 has been getting rave reviews, and while great gameplay and graphics have something to do with it, I’m sure that the ability to make a perfect match between Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson might add to its appeal.
This :30 second spot is also by Heat, with direction by Dave Hullin and Andy Walker of Framestore and awesome audio work by Tony Volante of Sound Lounge and Marshall Grupp of Marshall Grupp Sound Design.
