Gin made simple/complex in spots by Agency Republic, W+K Amsterdam
There are few things more refreshing after a summer day at the office than an ice cold Gin & Tonic. Condensation beading on the glass, ice cubes tinking against each other, the tartness of the quinine mixing with the distinctive juniper taste. Yes, the Gin & Tonic os a classic, and last week was a very good week for gin drinkers, as two campaigns for two famous brands of British Gin were released.
The first comes from Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam, and it’s a campaign for Tanqueray. The campaign’s tagline is “Resist Simple” and it touches on the complex ingredients that go into making Tanqueray before you even use it to make your own complex drink.
“Backstage”
“Paris”
Over in London, Agency Republic seems to have gone an opposite route for Gordon’s Gin. Using celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay (get it? The same name as the the gin!), Agency Republic eschews complexity and settles on the joyous simplicity of a Gordon’s Gin and Tonic, in this spot entitled “Favourite Things”.
Which do you prefer? W+K’s take on Tanqueray or Agency Republic’s Gordon’s Gin celebration. Either way, the parent company will be happy; both gins are owned by booze giant Diageo.
