Powering up at a Burger King drive-thru
Wow, imagine that: a really cool story about Burger King that doesn’t have CP+B’s name in it!
I caught this over at PSFK (who in turn saw it on Auto Blog Green) where they featured a Burger King in New Jersey whose drive-thru is being fitted with energy generators that capture the kinetic energy of cars slowing down to grab their Whoppers and fries.
The technology, called MotionPower™ by New Energy Technologies Inc. will be using the Burger King restaurant as a test site of sorts, and aim to capture this energy and put it back into the electric power grid. This particular BK drive-thru averages 150,000 customers a year, but if the news gets out to the environmentally conscious crowd, I wonder if they’ll flock to this BK, making more electricity… and more sales for the franchisee.
