Chalking up another one for Nike, LIVESTRONG
The 2009 Tour de France is just underway, and all eyes are on seven-time winner Lance Armstrong, who has come out of retirement to compete. Along for the ride this time is the Nike Chalkbot, an amazing piece of machinery that’s part farm equipment, part inkjet printer.
The Chalkbot is the latest part of the campaign for Lance’s LIVESTRONG charity. During the Tour de France, people from all over the world can join in the battle against cancer by texting their messages of hope and support for those who have lost the fight, and for those who persevere. The Chalkbot receives these messages, then sprays them in chalk along the race route. The message writers will then be sent GPS co-ordinates pinpointing the exact location of their message.
The Nike Chalkbot was developed by Deeplocal of Pittsburgh, PS.
