Okay, we all know how stellar South African ad agencies can be, and through this year's Portfolio Night, we saw a little bit of North Africa (Tunis, Tunisia played host) but between those two points there's a whole continent, with hundreds of millions of people.
Where do you find the creative hot shops between Casablanca and Cape Town? I'm not talking about the next Crispin Porter, I'm just talking about agencies that do interesting work outside of the usual South African/North African suspects.
I know a number of you are more familiar with African ad shops than others. Who do you admire in that part of the globe?
I think there may be an agency or 2 in Kenya and Nigeria, but further afield than that I'm not sure. Central Africa is for the most part a tech-dead zone or where that's not the case, it's sparsely populated or recovering from political instability.
Ogilvy Kenya is one that stands out a bit. Otherwise, like Amod said, it's slim pickings. Even North-Africa only recently started to get noticed. The work coming out of Egypt has always been somewhat strong, but only recently has it been picked up.
I think the Dubai Lynx have helped NA in that respect since it's an award show people outside the region for some reason decided to care about so they got to see the ads coming out of there.

Not bad for Africa. tucked behind and still searching for its creative soul. I tell you we just have to scratch our sandy hair and look on dark skins for inspiration.
