Great Guerilla Batman! GJP did this instillation in Toronto in May 2007. It only ran for 2 days, but it must have been crazy cool. They attached party streamers to an exhaust vent in a subway. When the fans turned on the rolled up streamers unraveled to a dazzling effect. Pretty sweet. This really feels like an art installation, in other words, B.A. They did the installation for a store called It's My Party.

And Great in a different way.

Flash / / / oh Flash
Posted on 2008-Oct-17 at 11:37
So the past few days I have been trying to learn flash to build a website. While I could easily understand the creative suite, flash, I have learned, is totally counter intuitive, or at least counter my intuition. I get how to go about creating a button, but I don't get how to make that button take the viewer to other parts of the page. I must have seen five or six tutorials on simple buttons, but no one addresses it. Then again, I could be an idiot. oh well. Who needs to put their book online anyway? (please don't answer that).

To sunnier pastures,

Banned from Britain, clever Levis commercial. Enjoy.

Great Luck in all you do.

Toothpaste

T.S.A Communications has designed metal plates that "alters the airport security experience and allows the government to learn more about you then just what's in your backpack. Thin 8.5 x 11 inch laser-cut sheets of stainless steel comfortably fit in your carry on bag, simultaneously obscuring the contents you don't want the TSA to see while highlighting ideas you do want them to see. Change your role as air traveler from passive to active."

Very interesting.

Imagine a campaign based around these guys for, say, shampoo or tooth paste.

Everything is illuminated.

Money is a powerful motivator. Just ask anyone who does not have much or has too much. But I think that people hold finance as a way to identify one's self with a group or category. He's in the upper middle class. She's famous and he is rich, and so on and so forth.

Americans, I think, do this more so than others. In Europe, it is all about ethnicity and cultural heritage. And while religion used to play into this idea of identity more than it does now, it still plays the supporting role in many cases. Americans forget that making 25,000 USD a year is doing incredibly well in many nations, not just some. People in America forget that most of Europe is Still coming to terms with the events of WWII. They are still rebuilding. In places like Dresdan, they have just started.

Everything Is Illuminated is a movie based off of some of the writings of Anton Chekhov, a Russian playwright and short story writer. The story is about a young man, a 'collector,'  of family memories. He travels to the Ukraine to find out more about his grandfather who had escaped a Nazi raided village. Anton, also one of the main characters, ends up being his reluctant translator while Anton's grandfather acts as the driver. Crazy things happen and people come together. It is well written, well acted, well directed, and well done. The movie takes you through the beautiful Ukrainian countryside, but it also deals with the uglier matters of race, Nazism, ghettoization, discrimination, and fear.

There is beauty and loathing in this movie. It is one that everyone needs to see.

And don't let Elijah Wood throw you off

Great Luck in Everything you do.

If the economy keeps going up, I may be able to get a job when I graduate. We shall see.

On Thursday I have a meeting with a career consultant. Maybe she will tell me my future or at least what it could be. My October resolution is to start writing on my blogs more. If I can get my ideas out, than i can start translations.

Oh thank heavens.
By the by, I am starting an ad and or picture and or art piece, advertisement of the day. Seeing as I am behind, I am going to post 2 (so there).

can we just say awesome. Brought to you by the people at VVORK.com. (notice the 2 vs).
And if someone says ads are not a part of culture, well than I snub my nose at you (you are snubbed).

Great luck in all your endeavors.

Sugar on the Asphalt

I want to believe in the government. I really do. I want to trust that my money is not simply falling into this huge black pit. But I am worried. When I have to finally pay for my education, will I have a career to help me do that?

The stink of it is that people are so worried about the election that, while the bailout or (at this junction) the lack thereof does get coverage. No one is freaking out. Am I simply overreacting. I would rather not experience the Great Depression.

Onto greener pastures,

I am a painting major and I have set my sights on the BrandCenter for grad school. Woohoo me. Now I just have to get in. Deciding is half the battle though. How did I come to this conclusion you may ask? Over the summer I was accepted in the Martin Agency Student Workshop, and may I just say that it was amazing. Oh Martin Agency how I love you. If you are a student, I highly recommend that you apply. I never thought I would ever learn so much about underwear. That's why I like advertising.
