| 2009 ANDY Awards Digital Campaign - - Creatives Connect Posted by Andy Awards on Wed 19 Nov 2008 at 03.25.00 pm | |
| So, the International ANDY Awards is entering its 45th year as one of the industry’s preeminent creative advertising awards show. They’re reinforcing their position as the first and perhaps most important show of the season in the new advertising campaign. The interactive Call-for-Entry campaign satirizes the emails of websites like Friendster and LinkedIn that invite you to be part of a social network. The piece, created by the team at Mother, London under the direction of Mark Waites, totally catches you off guard and surprises you. You think you’re opening a traditional “friend network” notification from one of... | |

| Hi there. I'm Steve McNamara, CD at AdCracker.com Posted by AdCracker on Tue 18 Nov 2008 at 05.26.00 pm | |
| 10 years ago I was a CD at JWT in Hong Kong. I left one week before the handover from Britain to China. Then worked in Indonesia, twice. First as the CD at Rapp Collins. Next at the local BBDO shop, Matari. I married an Indonesian Princess, and we moved back to California where I landed a CD slot at Capital One. That was a tremendous learning experience, but an uncomfortable fit. These days I spend most of my time tinkering with AdCracker - a tool for Creative Directors, and others, who face the pleasant problems of inspiring ideas, training talent,... | |

| How the hell did that get in?! Posted by D&AD on Tue 18 Nov 2008 at 11.42.00 am | |
| We've been spending quite a bit of time lately promoting the call for entries to the D&AD Awards 2009 - ihaveanidea are currently recovering from the seven D&AD screenings they held around North America last month. Over in London, over 100 people gathered in the Slaughtered Lamb last week to talk about work that's won, work that didn't win and what they'd like to see get into the D&AD Annual next year. It was a fun night, and no one held back on opinions - we're looking forward to the 2009 judges being as feisty. We filmed the whole thing and... | |

| The Dilemma Posted by LEBOW on Thu 13 Nov 2008 at 09.44.00 pm | |
| I’m having a problem. For one of the first time since starting this blog, I'm looking to all of you for advice. I have recently received the “Call for Entries” to some of the bigger shows. CA, The One Show, The ADC. I know in the past I have made statements about taking the money a freelancer would spend to enter these shows and rewarding yourself instead. This is why I am seriously torn. These shows cost big bucks for a guy that works independently. I’d be shelling out over four figures. I can go to Vegas for some R&R (in style) on that money. However, here’s where... | |

| Creché: the new advertising term of 2008 Posted by Aron Tipton on Wed 12 Nov 2008 at 08.27.00 pm | |
| You know when you see an ad, either as a creative or a consumer, and the concept at first seems interesting or fresh, but you know you've seen it enough times that it's gotten old. I've created a term that I think coins that idea or feeling: Creché. It's a combination of the words creative and cliché. Let me give you an example. Have you ever seen a headline on an advertisdement where the copy states an idea or concept, but then one of the words is crossed out to change it into the opposite or a different meaning. For example,... | |
