My CD likes my work… too bad I don’t.

I’ve been working for a network agency for about 1.5 years as a junior copywriter. I really work hard. My director is happy with my performance. We make very good presentations, the client loves our ideas, but unfortunately he is not willing to put them into life. This happened so many times! I want to shout and say ‘Don’t love them, buy them!’ We usually end up with boring TVCs and ads, so there is not much published or aired work in my portfolio. We can’t take part in any competition, either.
If I stay is there anything I can do to make my life better here?

intro My CD likes my work... too bad I dont.If you haven’t produced anything in a year and a half, you should start looking and before heading out get your great ideas into your book. There’s no shame in including unproduced work in a junior book. Even more senior people do well to include great ideas that didn’t live. If you stay much longer you will increasingly diminish your value based on the scene you describe. But meanwhile, make the most of where you are. Be proactive, we can’t say that enough. Beyond your assignments offer to help others with theirs, and look at your account list and think about ways you could do something business building for a client that hasn’t got anything on the go. At a minimum your CD will appreciate that you’re trying to do something helpful above and beyond your to-do list. It’s also another way to build your book.
