How can a junior find the right agency for them?

As a junior coming out of an ad program, what is the best way to go about finding the right agency for you?

intro How can a junior find the right agency for them?As a brand new junior, the right agency for you is anyone who will hire you. My University of Delaware advertising professor told me lo those many years ago: the first job is the hardest one to get. He was correct. I had 14 interviews before I got my first job, and it can get way worse than that.

So it always makes sense to start with the hottest, most heavily awarded agencies you can get in to see. Maybe even more sense to try to get into a shop known to value juniors and give them the attention and opportunities they need. But openings are always scarce. Short of walking into a shop you’ve heard is a total waste of time, or known for a poisonous atmosphere, grab that offer and give the job your all. If you aren’t growing and producing some work you’re proud of after a year, move on.
