My own small company preaches “teamwork”, practices exclusion

I have been in advertising for 12 years and I set up a creative-only outfit with two other people, who do not have an advertising background.
For some time now, one of my partners acts as de facto creative director though her role clearly is to bring in new business. When I had a chat with her, I was told that “teamwork” is important. Even my name is not allowed to be put up on our new website as she feels that I will be the advertising “star”, and the fact that I have won many awards will go against us! (This sounds unbelievable but it is true).
I am now seriously considering dissolving the company and moving on. Please let me have your views.

It’s hard to grasp the exact nature of your little agency, but it’s clear that there is a huge imbalance of power that works aginst you with extreme prejudice (that was a phrase in a movie…I’ve always wanted to say “with extreme prejudice”. Wow, today’s the day.) It doesn’t sound like you got far enough in advertising experience/ business to be trying to run a shop. Just buying in to such bad casting tells us that, and the mental picture of you being pushed around, apparently without pushback on your part. Maybe time to get back into an established shop for a chance to grow and mature.

Kick your partner’a ass on your way out the door, and say it was from us.
