Where in the ad world can my Cultural Studies degree take me?

Hi. I am writing to you because I am looking to change career paths and use the education I worked so hard at getting. I would love to get into advertising and promotions. My actual degree is in Cultural Studies, but I do have experience in promotions and journalism. Could you suggest anything to get me going in the right direction? Or possibly someone to contact to whom I could send my resume? I would appreciate any advice.
Thank you and take care.

intro Where in the ad world can my Cultural Studies degree take me? Your degree and experience all have some relevance in the persuit of an advertising career. You don’t say what aspect of the business you’re interested in. Creative? Account services? It would probably be helpful to you to talk to any senior advertising professional. Just sending resumes won’t get you far. Try calling an agency’s creative department manager for their thoughts on who may be the right person for you to speak with. Simply tell him or her that you need some big picture career advice and that you’re trying to understand where to begin as you change career paths. Be extra nice and they’ll likely book an appointment for you.
