Finished an internship… now what?

I’m sure you get this all the time but, I’m a jr. creative that just finished an 8 wk. internship and I am looking for a job once again. Where is the best place for me to start looking? I am a talented art director and I don’t want to give up. I thought about it many times but there is nothing else I’d rather do. Please help.

intro Finished an internship... now what?We wonder what kind of feedback you got from the creative director after your internship (and if they didn’t give you an evaluation, go back and ask for one–a very candid one.) That CD should make some calls for you if you did a good job for them, or at least suggest places you should call—after all, you just worked for them for nothing or next to nothing. They owe you that, in our book. In any case, there’s no shortcut to finding a job. Perseverance is the order of the day. If you’re talented and keep building the book, and bugging CD’s regularly, you’ll get in. After all, you landed an internship– not an easy task, either. So you can get a job, too. You can start with the agencies you admire most (check out the awards books and ad sites), talk to any senior person you can, while always trying for the CD–the decision maker. Any feedback you get from any good creative person should be valuable. So no effort is a waste; you’ll always get that out of an interview. And word of mouth can also help, as you meet more and more people, who may mention you to their friends who are looking for someone like you. Good luck.
