Would getting my Masters help me in creative?

I am a soon-to-be marketing/commerce graduate with an interest in advertising and a desire to work in the creative environment of an agency. I am considering going for a Masters (to focus on moods, memory, decision making and ?) How could this kind of skill set work into an agency? …would it, even?

intro Would getting my Masters help me in creative? Are you sure you want to be a creative person and not a shrink? Most ad people need shrinks – I’d bet there’s a job opportunity there. But really, if you want to work in a creative department you need a portfolio. A great understanding of human nature is unbelievably helpful provided you can turn it into compelling ads. Without the creative goods, the ability to get into people’s heads isn’t enough. Having said that, a lot of us could benefit from a better understanding of the way people think, feel and make decisions. Have you thought about planning which seems like a more direct link between your schooling and your job opportunity? Planners are the guys who are supposed to have the deep consumer research and the ability to turn that into a motivating and unique strategy that acts as a springboard for the creative. Without knowing more about you that seems like the obvious choice to us.
