My very first raise

I’ve been a junior for a year in a good agency and have done ‘all right’ work. When is the proper time to ask for a raise and how to I go about it?

intro My very first raiseIt will be better for you to approach your CD for a raise when you can say you’ve done excellent work—’all right’ from a junior, after a year, might actually have them wondering if they should stick with you, let alone give you a raise. If you’re not getting opportunities to do great work, be proactive and pitch ideas to your CD on an account in the shop, or ask seniors if you could pitch in on something interesting they’re working on. (You should do this kind of thing as a matter of course, anyway.) Think about raise time after you’ve got great ideas to show you’re worth it.
